Here goes
Quite a while ago, my family planned a summer trip to Japan. Now, I’ve always wanted to go, so I had something to do with it. Something that involved a lot of begging, bribing, and sucking up. But at least I got to go. I didn’t know it at the time, though, but that trip would change my life. For better or worse, I’m still trying to figure out, but what’s done is done. As we flew through the air, I was in my own row, somewhat away from my family’s rows. I kinda wanted to be separate from them. By them, I mean my little brothers Robby and Joey. They never stop annoying me. I fell asleep in no time, because my little brothers were excited about the trip and stayed up all night screaming, keeping me up as well. As we landed, my mom came in to find me, woke me up, and we headed for the hotel. Now, it was a different country, and even though I knew a lot about it, my parents were a little skeptical about it. When we got to the hotel, I was surprised at how many people actually spoke english. We got four rooms, and since it was two to a room, so I got my own room. After all, my third little brother wasn’t born yet. The next day, my parents took us all to some museum.
When we arrived, I looked around in astonishment at all of the stuff around me. My parents started rushing me, so I rushed in after them. They were already with a tour group. I was too busy to realize whenever the group moved on, so my parents continued to rush me. But I was really into one display, so they just thought they’d teach me a lesson. As they left with the group, a group of scientists walked in. I was too taken in by the displays to notice it wasn’t my group. When they started leaving the room, I rushed to join them, blissfully unaware it wasn’t my group. They didn’t even really notice me. They walked into a weird room with lots of different experiments. I was just about to ask what display this was, when the guy in front started taking some of the weird liquid from a huge aquarium tank. I started to realize it wasn’t my group. Another scientist walked in, and started yelling at the scientist in front. The one taking the liquid stabbed the scientist that was yelling, and I knew that they weren’t scientists. The group instantly flew apart and guarded each of the doors. I was behind the guy taking the sample when I had a thought. These guys aren’t very friendly.
I began to wonder who these guys were, when I found something on the ground. It was a badge of some kind. I remember seeing the symbol on it from a display on an ancient ninja clan. These guys were ninja, and I was facing down death, because the guy taking the sample had gotten all he needed, and was about to turn around. Without thinking, I ran at him with all of my speed and strength. He would have moved, but then the tank would have shattered and they wouldn’t have gotten their samples. He took the hit and fell to the ground, me toppling him over. He didn’t expect me to be so heavy, I assume, and he also didn’t expect me to roll over. I didn’t even expect me to hit him, so how could I know? I rolled onto his sample bottle, and it shattered. I later learned it was some genetic altering slime, but at the time, I only cared about my survival. But as I got up, the ninja I tackled punched me in the face with his bare hands. An alarm sounded off, and all the ninja quickly jumped out of the room. The ninja that took the sample glared at me, and I had the feeling he wanted me to know I would see him again. As the security guards stormed into the room, I felt around on my back, to see if the slime was on my back from when I shattered it. For some reason, It wasn’t.
The scientist the ninja stabbed was still alive, and stood up with the guards help. The guards all surrounded me, and pointed guns at me. The scientist that got stabbed shouted something at all of them, and they all stood down. “Can you speak English, because I can’t speak Japanese,” I asked. The scientist actually answered, “Yes, and I must thank you. If you hadn’t stopped those men from stealing the formula, I don’t know what would have happened.” “Well, I actually just rolled over onto his tube, and it shattered. It stung, so I figured I got cut, but I guess I didn’t.” I didn’t like the expression on his face. “You got the formula in your blood stream?” I just nodded. “Is that bad?” I asked. “That is an experimental genetic structural transference formula! If the formula works, you will absorb the best genetic characteristic of the first person that you make contact with. Even a sample of their genetic structure will set off the formula. A hair, even a flake of skin!” I remembered when the ninja punched me, and I just laughed. The scientist looked at me like I was crazy, and he screamed “What’s so funny?” I just laughed and said “That ninja’s gonna get a nasty surprise the next time he punches me.”
The security guards looked around and found my tour group. I got to them just in time for the end of the tour. They hardly noticed I was gone. That night, I couldn’t get to sleep. I was thinking about what the scientist had said. But I felt weird when I finally did fall asleep. Like something changed. I didn’t think much of it. When I woke up the next morning, I got a phone call from the museum. Somehow they had gotten my hotel’s name, and they wanted me to go down to the museum. My parents let me go, so I went. When I got there, the scientist was there in the center of the room. I asked what he wanted with me, and all he said was “Fire.” I looked around and there were a ton of security guards with guns. They all shot at me at once, and, like a second nature, I jumped up and latched onto the ceiling. “What’d you do that for? You could’ve killed me!” I noticed where I was and yelped, then fell to the floor. “You have received that persons physical prowess. I assume he is one of the ninja from the clan that’s been giving us a hard time.” I just listened as he praised himself for creating this magnificent formula.
“So, what was with those ninja?” I asked, after a while of him praising himself. He looked at me with a confused look, and then remembered why he called me here. “Ah yes, I called you here to warn you. Those ninja that were in here yesterday? They were part of a secret ninja clan. They are simply after the formula, so that they can create an unstoppable army of ninja warriors. Standard evil plot. Their leader, the best ninja in the world, was the one who took the sample, and the one who punched you. If I’m right, you have gained all the abilities of that ninja.” I looked down at huge stomach. “So you’re saying that I’m one of the strongest people in the world.” He nodded. “That is not all though,” he said, “for you are the most valuable science experiment in the world as well. I won’t stop you from leaving, but I must tell you that the ninja that were here yesterday will be back to either kill you, or kidnap you to study your body.” I looked at him with a thinking expression. “I think I’ll take my chances out there.” I left the room, and headed back to my hotel.
That night, I was half asleep. It was weird, because I was in both the states of sleeping and consciousness. I heard a small creak. I quickly left my bed, silently, an a ninja jumped onto my bed, stabbing the blanket. I was latched onto the ceiling, so I just dropped down. I threw the ninja’s body out the window, because I figured he was dead. But he wasn’t, and as he fell, he screamed because there was no escaping his imminent doom. I fell asleep for the rest of the night, in my half asleep state, and I felt amazing. I knew that if I didn’t destroy the ninja clan, they would continue to hunt me for the rest of my life. I told my parents that I was going to hunt a dangerous ninja clan, but it’s not like they believed me. So I left, looking for any sign of the ninja. As I was walking by, a kunai was thrown, and nearly hit me. It would have hit me, but I have ninja powers, so it didn’t. I plucked the kunai out of the wall that it flew by and hit, and remembered the museum. I thought maybe they could tell me where it had been made.
I arrived at the museum shortly after I set out, because I had ninja speed as well as stealth and strength. I did get some funny looks from the people. After all, you don’t see a fat guy jumping over rooftops every day. I looked around and found some experts on metalworking, who told me the metal from the kunai could be found only around Mt. Fuji. I soon set out for Mt. Fuji, to find the metalworker. After an hour or two in a cab, I arrived, only to find a small hut at the foot. I entered, and found a hard working smith. I asked him if the kunai was his work. He said “Yes, it is my work. I remember when I made this... A man dressed in all black walked out of the mountain mine shaft, brought me some ore, and ordered a hundred kunai. It’s not every day someone brings you such rare ore, and for such a hefty fee as I charged, I couldn’t resist.” I thanked him and looked for the nearest mine shaft. A ninja’s best weapon is the shadow, so I had no reason to bring a light of any kind. Besides, it’s just one of the most powerful, if not, the most powerful ninja clan the world has ever known. Plus I had the dexterity of the best ninja in the world. What could happen? A question I didn’t want answered, answered anyway.
I entered the mine shaft. It was extremely hard to conceal myself, because it echoes so much in mine shafts. As I walked along the dark, dank corridors, I heard a voice. “Did you really?” “Yeah, I dumped her.” “No way!” “Yeah I did. She was like all crying, but I did it anyway.” Upon hearing these voices, I remembered that the experts on ancient weapons and the blacksmith also spoke English, and began wondering about that. But I had no time to waste. I jumped up onto the ceiling and started crawling across. Before I knew it, I was entering a large, lit room, with ninja crawling all over the place. It looked like the inside of an anthill. “Move it along, fatty!” I heard from behind. I jumped off the ceiling, and the ninja behind me said “About time. And get your uniform on!” I just walked around for a while until a few ninja children came up to me and asked “Hey mister, why aren’t you training?” I said, “Well, I’m looking for the head ninja here, do you know where I can find him?” They pointed to the hall they just came out of. I thanked them and ran down, thinking it was the last time I’d have to do something like this.
As I neared the end of the hall, a rain of kunai came down, and I jumped up, using the corner of the shaft as a shield. “Welcome, fat one.” I heard. I assumed it was the ninja that I stopped from getting the sample. “What brings you here? Do you have a death wish?” He stood up, then disappeared. “Or do you simply want to join us?” He was behind me somehow. I did the same, and said “I just want to kill you, so that you’ll stop bothering me.” I pulled out the kunai that the assassin tried at first to kill me with and lunged at him. He disappeared, picked up one of the kunai he threw at me, and the fight began. As we ran toward each other, we attacked, as well as blocked the others’ attacks. As he stepped back to charge again, I ran at him at full speed, then he lunged and I slid underneath his attack, stabbing him in the leg. He pulled the kunai out slowly, and as we both looked in astonishment at the weapon, it began smoking.
“No! This is the kunai I tried to kill you with earlier, isn’t it?” He yelled. “Wait a second, you can’t kill someone with one thrown ku-” I stopped, because I had a thought. It was smoking because the blood was reacting to the kunai. The kunai had been poisoned. As the kunai caught up in flames, the ninja dropped it, and I looked at his leg. His entire leg had become enflamed, and it was spreading. Soon his entire body was on fire, and he fell back and died. I picked up the kunai I used to kill him, because the fire was out now. I looked into the mine shaft, and it looked as if a geyser of ninja was spewing out of the hall. I guessed one of the ninja guards snuck by and told the entire army that I was there. I picked up another kunai and clashed them together, so that they would both be poisoned, and that I would stand a chance against an army of ninja.
As I ran toward the flood of ninja soldiers, I wondered what I was doing. It didn’t matter what I was thinking though, as it was now a matter of life and death. I jabbed the kunai into two ninja, pulled them out, and started on the next. I continued this routine, even after the kunai lit aflame. As I slashed and stabbed for my life, I noticed that fewer and fewer ninja were coming after me. When at last I killed the last ninja to cross my path, I ran out of the shaft. I went as fast as I could, and that was pretty fast. On the way I dropped the kunai I had with me, and went back to the hotel. For the next two days, I was able to relax, and when we finally went home, my parents asked, “So Ben, how was your vacation?” I just walked into my room, dropped onto my bed and said, “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you. In fact, I don’t believe it myself.” They challenged me to try them, but I had fallen asleep.
